We live in a four bedroom single family home with a main floor, an upstairs, and a finished basement. The house is on a cul-de-sac that doesn't have much traffic, so you can play in the circle fairly safely. There are some neighbood kids in the elementary-to-middle-school age range. The backyard has a stream and a fishpond.
Each kid gets their own room on the second floor, and will have the opportunity to decorate it to their specification for their 13th birthday. The second floor also has the kids' bathroom, the adults' bedroom and bathroom, and Shanna's office/Exercise room/3D printing room.
The main floor has the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, a small bathroom, the garage, the back deck, and Kristy' office.
The basement is our gaming room with a fireplace, a dry bar, shelves of many books and games, as well as a door out to the back patio and firepit. We're built into a fairly steep hill, so the fishpond and backyard is down another set of stairs from there.
Our cars have names. Amelia is the maroon minivan who lives in the garage because she's newer and a hybrid that gets plugged in at night. Elsa is the ice blue Honda who lives in the driveway. The cold doesn't bother her anyway.
The immediate family currently consists of two adults and two middle schoolers, with room for a third kid. An aunt, uncle, and two cousins (4th and 7th grade) live within easy walking distance. Extended family lives in New York State, near Poughkeepsie, as well as in Ephrata, PA.
Our children attend Linglestown Elementary School for grades K-5, and Linglestown Middle School for grades 6-8. We live close enough to both schools that we are walkers and do not ride the bus. Ali likes to bike to school, and Wes uses a scooter. (During the cold months, though, we usually drive to school.)
Sunday is church from 9-12. Sometimes the kids have friends over in the afternoon.
Weekdays, we have school and work. Shanna gets up early and will usually be downstairs first. Wake up time for middle school is around 6:15 or so. Shanna leaves at 6:45, and the middle schoolers leave around 7am. For elementary, we should be up by 8, and out the door around 8:30. I start work at 9am in the front office of the house. Middle schoolers get home around 2:45pm, and elementary schoolers by 4pm. Shanna gets home around 4:45, and Kristy gets out of work around 5:15pm.
This year, Ali has Girl Scouts on Tuesdays 6:15-7:30, and Dance on Thursdays 5:30-8:30. Wes is signed up for basketball in the winter, but we don't have a day for that yet. Dinner works around those activities, but usually we try to have it around 6. Bedtime on weeknights is generally 8pm, but activities may push that back as well. Fridays and Saturdays, we may allow kids to stay up a little later if we're doing something together.
Saturdays don't have any specific schedule, but they always start with chocolate chip pancakes. They tend to fill up with various activities, including visiting with family or friends, going to church functions, taking small trips, attending birthday parties, etc.
